That’s an unusual one, might save a lot of head scratching, so thanks for the warning.
Hope that the Scottish weather is behaving so that you can really enjoy the scenery….although not so good here down South.
Put my Moto Guzzi 850 v-twin back on the road this year, but not fancied riding it much – it’s a fine weather bike.
We were in Scotland 3 years ago when they had the heatwave and we had 3 wonderful weeks, that was the best of three trips by a long way

Not surprised that it went so quickly Dougie – you had top quality work done (respray & rust treatment) to your exacting standards, as was the great table modification that you ‘engineered’ and showed us on your earlier thread.
Thanks for having me over to see your great respray/underseal job – I was impressed and inspired and must start the process to get the tardy areas of mine sorted.
Sorry that circumstances have not allowed you to realise all your Exsis journey and thanks for the excellent contributions that you have made to the Exsis family.
Hopefully we will here from the new owner and he will benefit from wealth of information available.

There have been a few ABS related problems over the years…..this is a Ducato related problem not peculiar to Exsis.

I think that I can also recall that someone had a problem with ABS flickering light many years ago, but that would have been on one of the old sites and lost. My memory may fail me in this report, but I replied that I had a similar problem with my Rover 400 and the local garage discovered that a segmented plastic or Fibre ring that picks up wheel rotation had split and this caused the ring to slip, which activated the ABS light. The ring was changed and the fault cleared.
I did mention that I had no knowledge that a Ducato operated on a similar principal ……..I think that the person with the fault had this checked out and found that this was the problem on his Ducato Exsis.
Please understand that I may have got this wrong and this was probably about 8- 10 years ago.

That was a good spot to notice those missing links Chris.
I have not looked at those for a while, but they are a good read.
The reviews and comments were quite complimentary of the Exsis, so very useful for recent owners to indulge in a bit of self satisfaction and reassurance with their purchase and even more useful for prospective purchasers to give them confidence in the marque.
Barry worked quite hard to assemble that information , so I hope that the links can be resurrected.

I have the have the ‘Which Motorcaravan’ 2003 magazine – the most exciting motorhome…ever! and maybe one or two other articles somewhere. I think several of us sent info to Barry and then the wizzo sorted some pdf out, I think??

Thanks again Tom for an informative and detailed report and feedback.
I have the SG and have checked mine this morning.
The substantial metal piece is all smooth and shiny on the outer surface (facing downwards into locker) over the complete length. I did notice that the inner surface (uppermost facing plywood top) was quite pitted at the open area exposed in the centre near the substantial upright post and on the open edge near the seat belt at the gangway, but smoother (by touch) away from these points.
I’m not an acrobat so I didn’t look up from underneath as in your photo for staining.
Guess that to take a good look it would be necessary to remove ply wood seat base top – a few screws and staples……if I was looking to clean out all the dust I would do that, or if you would like further comparison, I could be persuaded.

Sorry to hear about your problem Tom – what else to do on a wet afternoon, but to go and look for identification on my Elektroblok.
Couldn’t find any identification under close scrutiny with a torch – although there is a big Varta battery in front of itbut I could peer down in between.
All I could find was the original component documentation (German) that came with the van and it has EBL99G on it .
My Exsis SG left factory March 2006 2.3 JTD , similar to yours I believe.

That’s a good result Tom, well done.
Invaluable information too for other owners who may have the misfortune of a bump in the future and perhaps think that they are faced with the extortionate cost of a new replacement part.

Seems reasonably priced, given the ‘word’ that prices are sky high due to the demand and scarcity of vans.
We have been camping twice recently to our quiet places – 1 other van on one and the place to ourselves on the other…..so glad it was not this Bank Holiday W/E though!

Ouch Tom!
I smashed my offside corner section about 3 years ago, much worse than yours and had it repaired for £150 cash – I did post photos at the time, but I’ll look at the earlier threads to see if its still here.
I got a silly qoute from Darren at Brownhills (480??, I think), apparently Hymer prices had increased significantly and he advised it would be cheaper to get repaired. I tried Bath repairers, but they wanted silly money nearly as much as a new part and in one case more! Eventually I tried a small repair shop out of town, who said that they would fit it in between jobs – I waited nearly 3 weeks mind, but it was good and cheap.
Mike Sidebottom had damaged his centre section a year or so earlier and he advised that he had his repaired locally to him at less than £200, I think??
My biggest concern with self repair was being able to match and get a good paint finish – and I am pleased that I didn’t try.

Well done to all above ,no doubt this reference will be a valuable source of information for these older base vehicles.

Thanks for sharing this information and for giving the extra detail for location of fuses and relays.
This may well be useful to owners as aged components fail on the base vehicle.
Electrics can be a difficult problem to solve, but having a starting point may well help.

Thanks for the update Mike, that nearly satisfies my curiosity and saves me pondering and perhaps being nosey and asking if you were updating or discontinuing the motorhome life, but not quite as Adria do PVC/Compact (narrow body) and wider bodied models – all longer than the 5.4m Exsis.
Gill’s sister and husband have owned an Adria Matrix (6m) since 2014 and they have been very pleased with it.
You have made major contributions for events and experiences and advice so it would be good for newer members if you would continued to support us…..the Home page welcome says it all and we have always been an open and friendly forum ” the Website for owners and admirers …..” and I am sure that you will have fond memories of your Exsis years.

A very positive chap on the video… just need to find someone like him or have deep pockets.
Mine just passed the MOT last week, think mine is ok but too old and lazy to crawl about and look and unlikely to get my ramps out these days. Ever since Dougie posted his extensive repair that was done not too far away from me I have been tempted to get it undersealed and checked – but never get around to it.
As Ruby seems to be a keeper having had her from new and now unlikely to change with the price of new vans, difficulty in finding a better layout and scarcity of new van availability – think I ought to spend some of the money I would save on depreciation by treating the van that I love with a good underseal treatment.
