Hi Tom,
Very many thanks for your swift response!! 😊
We will get that looked at. It’s now struggling to make 10mph on inclines …. on way home from Maldon …. ouch, hope we make it!! Already had AA out today re not starting, …. to do with the sigma alarm.
Many thanks again

Many thanks, as always, for your help!! I wonder if there is a lighter weight standard awning, with light sides. It would be good to find a motorhome sales place that specialises in all these items, and has various makes available to look at …. it would have to be pretty big !!
Thanks again .. xx
Thank you so much Fred, for your help, kindness and interest!
Unfortunately, the ABS issue escalated, partly because the garage could not get hold of a replacement driveshaft. They acquired 4 different ones, none of which worked, and then found out that the relevant one is no longer made. As a consequence our man tried to work on the old one …. which he’s done, at considerable expense, due to all the labour ! ABS light has since gone off 🤞!(All of that took time, and we had to cancel two trips, but hey ho, we are retired!!)
He believes it’s likely that this driveshaft will need to go away and be rebuilt if there are further problems.
We currently have fridge, waste water and 2 leaks in the bathroom problems, but they’re not as bad as the previous issues …. and also not as bad as poor Gareth’s problems, bless him 🏴!Thanks again for your help and support!

Hi, sorry to say we have the same problem, with warning light, and intermittent red handbrake warning too!
Sadly this is adding to our rust/ battery etc etc problems … so dispiriting for us.
We’re trying to find someone who can look at this, and praying it won’t be expensive …. had to spend a lot so far!
We hope you have few problems and that this ABS issue, can be sorted for both of us. There are some very helpful folk on this site who may be able to help!

Hiya Tony,
We’re totally unteccy … and ‘un’ lots of things come to that, so not sure how to post the video directly. However Tresjolie asked for it, a while ago, and I sent it to him somehow, so please can you ask him to pass it on to you.
We’re so fortunate to have found a garage willing to take it on ……. doubt he’d do it again, bless him !!

<div></div>Hi Tom,
I tried to reply earlier, but don’t think it registered. If you can send me your email address, I can send the video that way, not sure how to do it on this site.

Huge thanks to everyone for your really helpful advice and ideas, and encouragement, we’ll weigh it all up, and see what’s affordable 🤔!
We had booked it in with the garage that did the MOT, but wondering now if we should go for something more specialised …. the garage is owned by a relative of a mobile motorhome mechanic we’ve used a few times, so maybe they’ll have better knowledge than some, and we could show them your advice perhaps.
Thanks again,
Jean n’Erwin
Oooops spelling mistake …. corrosion !!! Many thanks for your reply ..
Oooops spelling mistake …. corrosion !!!
Many thanks, the Vango sounds nice, we bought a Kampa motion one in a sale, problems to fit, as the awning on ours has been bolted to the c rail, and the awning no longer works, so trying c rail fitted to redundant awning …. at a later date will get new awning …..
Thanks,
Jn’E
Thanks Barry, it was doing it before we had the bike rack and tow bar fitted. The connection at the tow bar end is the one that we inherited but we had it moved from underneath and fitted onto the tow bar. So still a mystery ………
Many thanks again Nozzi, for your help/advice!
We looked at Norwich Camping, very good site. As we’ve had to spend a lot so far on our motorhome, we were looking for a sale item, and found one there, a Kampa Motion air driveaway tent.
Unfortunately more spending ahead, due to fitting it not being at all straightforward. The existing Omnistor awning, that no longer works, is old etc, was fixed into the C rail above it, meaning it’s impossible to use the C rail for the tent to fit into. As it would be expensive to have a new awning, as well as tent, we hope that a J rail, fitted to the old Omnistor, will be sufficient to fit the tent into ….. fingers and earlobes crossed.
Thanks again for your help.

<div></div>Many thanks Fred and Barry for your input and advice.
I guess we’re in a slight dilemma because although the lithium batteries are maybe a bit of newish phenomena for motorhomes, they do seem to be much longer lasting than other types, have various advantages, and have a warranty for 5 years, and should last much longer. Other ones seem to have a potential life expectancy of 3 to 4 years, then need replacing, another cost.
We are seeing a motorhome electrician, in Brighton, on Wednesday, who will be doing the checks on Hector. We’ll also ask him about batteries, and about what the Electroblock is capable of.
Thanks again,
Jean and Erwin

<div></div>Very many thanks Chris, that’s very helpful ….. being completely new to all this, we’re on a massive learning curve, and are a bit confused by various opinions.
It’s frustrating too, as we can’t use the motorhome, new to us, until the potential Electroblock problem is sorted, and new batteries sought. Martin Bushnell of A and N Caravan services, was very critical of the current battery etc systems in the van … which Barry, the recent previous owner was very happy with. His comment was ‘The maximum
capacity for an EBL99 is 180Ah so with two 110Ah batteries and your vehicle
(starter) battery which is probably 90Ah at least you have 310Ah which will
eventually have overloaded the charger.’It doesn’t sound like you have a B2B ( we’re not entirely sure of the function of this … not Bn’B tho’!), and Martin seems anti these. Our van has B2B, and we wonder now if it’s necessary, and whether the current Electroblock system would be sufficient and compatible, with either the lithium batteries, like you have, or Exide ES 900 batteries, suggested by Martin.
Sorry this got so long ….. we are currently blinded by science …..
Thanks again, in anticipation of yours … or anyone else’s ‘help for the ignorant’ !

<div></div>Thanks Barry. We have been in touch with Martin, but he isn’t receiving visits during this time. He is very helpful, and knowledgable, and seems to feel that different batteries are required, and doesn’t recommend the B2B …. We will replace both batteries with the ones he suggests
We are looking for a local place ( with some trepidation!) to carry out the tests that Martin says need to be done, which should indicate the problem, and whether a new Electroblock is required. The ‘cooked’ battery may have had an adverse effect on this, and it may be damaged. All sounding a spot expensive so far!
We do need some luck now … fingers and earlobes crossed!!
