I’ve asked Stephen (webmaster) if it’s possible to enlarge these photos by “selecting” them or something. It’s with him now.
By the way, I deleted those empty posts, Tom.

Bad luck, Mike.
I think a first stop could be have a search through Fiat Forums, here…
https://www.fiatforum.com/ducato/Failing that, maybe a chat with these guys? Here…

Although these people specialise in ECU and other automotive electronics, they may also take on your fault or even have experience of it.
Failing them, there are lots of “circuit board repair” places on the internet, like this one…
They presumably have the equipment, knowledge and parts to carry out a delicate repair like this.
Good luck, and let us know how you get on with this, Mike?

Thanks, Steve. I know nothing about AppleMacs either.
For what it’s worth, Tom, maybe temporarily put the picture(s) on your desktop if you can, not in any folder, just on the desktop, and see if you’re able to select it/them then?
Good luck.

It’s all there on Page 544 of The Little Exsis Book, Tom.

Hi Tom.
I looked at your first post for some while, very puzzled, before I scrolled down and saw the explanation!! 🙂
You should then get the option to select a picture, after the beach ball has rotted for a short while…!! I suspect it’s a setting on your computer, because you’ve had the option to choose your photo album. I’ll have to pass this one to my Son, Stephen (who set up this site) – it’s beyond my meagre grasp of computery-things.
Bear with me while I try to get the answer.

More information on the “oil in LPG” problem here…
and a discussion about the problem here…

A final thought…
Make sure that the inner, water temperature thermostat, is set to a hot temperature… If it’s set right down low, the water heater won’t come on and gives you the circumstances you describe.
I won’t tell you how I know this, nor how long I sweated before I discovered. If it ever happened at all… !! 😉
It “might” be oil in the line. This was a gas problem a while ago, I remember. Oil is included in the LPG we buy and can find it’s way into the lines. One way to stop it is by having vertical pipe runs from the tank and “low points” that collect the oil and stop it getting to inaccessible points in the pipes. The other option is to fit a filter.
Any plumber/gas fitter can help you. You need to switch off gas AT THE BOTTLE . Then attach a pump to the appropriate gas line. Pressurise it to clear any build up of oil. The gas fitter will know if all is normal from his pressure gauge.
Another potential problem is dirt, dust and rust that collects on and round the gas jet and Piezoelectric igniter, situated under the hot tank. It is extremely difficult to get at – the best route to start with is via the exhaust outlet on the rear nearside corner of the Exsis. Pages 117 and 118 of the Little Exsis Book show how to remove the ‘chimney’ covers to give you access, albeit limited, to the boiler burner jet and igniter. You will need a long brush (one of those long, ‘bendy’ brushes are ideal) and a vacuum cleaner nozzle. Brush clean as much as you can and vaccuum as much debris as you can, from the gas jet and igniter area. This might solve the problem.
The other problems (if the igniter seems to work and there’s no obstruction in the gas line) could be the automatic open/shut gas valve OR the circuit board alongside the boiler, are defective. I hope it’s not these because they’re difficult or expensive to sort. This is all discussed in the boiler entry starting on page 105 of the Little Exsis Book.
Let us know how you resolve this?
Good luck.

I have a pair of 110ah Vartas (I think they’re Varta) – about two years old now.
Before you make a decision, though, have a look here…

Unfortunately, one owner who could have helped you sold his Exsis last year and has left our ranks.
Does anyone else have knowledge of these OBD readers? Unfortunately, my own experience is less than useful… I bought a plug-in sensor and the Bluetooth app to read the results. It all “sort of” worked but I didn’t get the information that I was seeking. I have to put that down to “operator error” though!
Good luck with this, Alan. It’d be good to know if you find that they really are a useful diagnostic tool and if so, how to actually get at that information. They’re not expensive.
Keep us informed, please? Thanks.
Barry
Thanks, Nozzi. It’s good to get feedback that can then be passed on, for the benefit of everyone.
Barry
Yes, Tom.
Just click on the little square ‘picture’ icon near the formatting icons when you’re creating a post. It will give you the option to select the picture from your computer, ‘phone, etc., in the normal way.
Barry
Thanks, Nozzi.
A really great company, Atlantic Motorhomes – VERY helpful and they have made a good name for themselves. I believe Mike & France had a good result with them and other members have, too.
Sadly the owner has cancer, but the firm has been taken over by someone equally enthusiastic. We have links to 240v electrical information on the “Manuals, Spares & Links” page, but they don’t all work at the moment – this is in the process of being sorted as we tidy the site up.

I’ve just had a quick look on E-Bay and found this…
As I supected, it’s not a fortune and dead easy to fit. If you’re not booked into the garage for anything else, you might be able to save a lot(?) of money by fitting it yourself, if you’re able?
Let us know how this pans out – others have had this problem too, like Alan (and I think I had this problem on my old Anglia, if I remember correctly!).
Barry
Sounds like maybe a faulty sender unit (gauge sensor)?
If no actual overheating, it won’t be the thermostat in the water system that’s defective. The gauge itself just reproduces the signal sent to it, so if it’s the gauge that’s at fault, I think you’d see constant over temp or no temp at all.
Nope. My money’s on the temperature sender that goes to the gauge. Cheap enough, I would have thought?
Good luck. Let us know what you discover?
