Hi Emile,
The step was made specially for Hymer by Omnistor, using one of their standard steps as a base (I can’t remember the code of which one). It’s very similar but slightly smaller.
I don’t know where you are, Emile, but the exact step can be obtained from the very helpful owner of Rose Awnings in Poole, Dorset – https://www.roseawnings.co.uk/contact-us/
Good luck.

This is the site where you will probably find all you need…
Good luck,
Barry
Thanks for that , BrySH. Very good info.
I found that it was worthwhile to get my garage to re-direct the two dashboard 12v sockets to be fed from the habitation batteries, rather than the engine battery. It makes them useable for all sorts of purposes with no danger of running the vehicle battery down.

This might be the wiring for the towbar. Check that first. When a trailer is plugged in, it activates a loud ‘buzzer’ confirmation that the trailer indicator lights are OK. This is probably what you’re hearing.

That “hymerexsis@gmail.com” email address appears several times throughout the site, Chris. Could you possibly edit them to read your “webmaster” address, please? I will eventually not look at the “hymerexsis” one, I guess. Thanks.
Barry
Hi Tom,
That email address is now defunct, but I still monitor it and deal with any “Exsis” posts. I’ll pass on the link to Chris. Maybe change the email address on the site, Chris?
This is a good moment to let everyone know (certainly all the new members) that The Little Exsis Book is entirely due to the efforts of Tom – his idea and he executed it, to the advantage of us all. Thanks Tom!

I’m afraid not, Fred.
If you have a table support that is sunk INTO the floor, you can remove it and see for yourself. Alternatively, in the boot area, there is a hole (to release the spare wheel). It’s quite small, but maybe a photo by your ‘phone might enable you to view it easily.

Yes, good luck with this problem – I know you’ve been trying to sort it for a long, long time.

Hi Jean & Erwin,
This is a much better option than the ubiquitous “Safari tent”, which, in my opinion, are totally unsuited to a motorhome (they have to be taken down each time you want to move the ‘van, even just a few metres!).
I’m not sure about the inflatable aspect of the otherwise-excellent choice of a side tent. “Packed size” is the critical part (because storage in the Exsis is so restricted). I would go for the smallest “packed size” awning tent I could find, commensurate with the overall size you need, so I recommend you look at that aspect before you set your heart on any particular one.
I think “air tents” pack larger than those with either fibreglass or tubular poles.
Good luck.

Glad you were able to sort it, Palcal… Thanks for the update.

Here’s a simple explanation… https://tinyurl.com/y5swul7d
Briefly, they charge the leisure batteries much, much faster than would otherwise be possible, by monitoring battery temperature and raising/reducing charge rate from the alternator accordingly.
Do you mean the small (round) air heater vent, or the large (rectangular) water heating vent?
The round vent cover is no longer made by Truma and is ‘unobtainium’, but the rectangular cover is available at most caravan accessory outlets, but only in white – Truma stopped making the grey cover (sadly) ages ago.
As Tom points out, there is a good suggestion for a substitute round cover in Discussion 2 of his ‘Little Exsis Book’.

Thank goodness you’ve sorted that, Jean & Erwin – what a nightmare. It just shows that even with a professionally supplied and fitted system (by Outdoor Bits), you still cannot be sure. This was done by them 12 years ago, so has been waiting to explode on me all that time. Makes me quite angry really.
Let’s hope that you finally have plain sailing and are able to enjoy the Exsis properly.
Good luck.

Hi Jean & Erwin,
I’m pretty sure that was a defective battery you suffered, rather than any defect in the “system”. I’ve run this system for eight or nine years, with two different sets of (albeit budget) leisure batteries with no problem whatsoever. I showed you the forum where many people were running twin (and even three!) batteries from Electroblock EBL99s, so I’m pretty sure it’s OK. Number 2 battery is fine, isn’t it, and I think that would have suffered too if it had been a ‘system’ problem. The B2B does nothing more than put a varying charge into the batteries quicker than a battery charger does, balancing that charge with any rise in temperature, that’s all. Martin doesn’t like them – he argues that just uprating cabling will achieve the same benefit at a fraction of the cost!
But… I think, as ‘newbies’, that you should act on advice from Martin – he knows far, far more than I will ever know!
As far as “batteries” are concerned, there are two that I would seriously consider, both highly recommended by Martin – the Varta LDF90/Bosch L90 (same battery)…
(https://www.tayna.co.uk/leisure-batteries/varta/lfd90/ )
and the newer Yuasa L36EFB…
(https://www.tayna.co.uk/leisure-batteries/yuasa/l36-efb/ )
I don’t think any AGM batteries are recommended by Martin – he points out that, despite being allegedly “sealed”, they still gas-off, whereas the Varta and Yuasa don’t – much safer in a motorhome! Lithium may be a step too far (expense wise) until you have more experience? I don’t know – your decision.Good luck with sorting this, Jean & Erwin. As you really are new to all this, I would go with Martin’s advice. I know some people don’t always agree with him but in my opinion, his recommendations come from good, solid experience.

I’ve privately corresponded with you folks, but for the benefit of others, can I highly recommend that you contact Martin at http://www.aandncaravanservices.co.uk/ . He is a really nice genuine guy, happy to offer advice. I don’t think you could do better than obtain his advice and maybe even make a trek up to North Wales, to book the Exsis in for him to diagnose and sort the problem.
I suspect a defective battery… Unusual but not unheard of. The green window shows fluid level and state of charge, I believe. The black window says it all…
Good luck with this.
